Richard Henry

Richard Henry is a modernist residence situated on a very steep & constrained site capturing breathtaking views of Mount Coolum & the ocean. The house was designed for a semi-retired couple who requested a low-maintenance building which reflected their flamboyant nature and preference for clean lines. The main cladding material is Colorbond Spandek profile in Monument. The upper levels of the house project dramatically above the gully below and afford views above the tree canopy. Two sets of huge galvanised steel angled ‘legs’ are notable exterior features as well as a modest concrete swimming pool which sits above ground without requiring pool fencing. The house was awarded a Commendation by the RAIA in the National Architecture Awards program in 2018.
