Fauna Terrace House
A very modestly sized “sea change” residence for a retiring couple from Brisbane. The house occupies a small footprint on a very steep and densely treed site. Stained timber cladding with a mixture of raw hardwood, expressed concrete block, and charcoal structural steel elements provide a raw and recessive palette which blends in with the natural context. Car accommodation is by way of suspended deck carport which doubles as an entrance porch. A shipping container pool below cantilevers wildly out into the tree canopy and is perhaps the most notable feature of this design.
